Day 1. Wednesday Mumbai
Following a traditional welcome at CST terminus in Mumbai, board the Indian Maharaja train to settle into the exclusive royal suite as the train departs for Aurangabad. Dinner is served as you travel through the night in this pan India luxury train.
Day 2. Thursday Aurangabad – Ellora Caves
The first morning aboard the Indian Maharaja Luxury train, you will be served a hearty breakfast before leaving for the morning sightseeing tour to Ellora Caves. Here, the conglomeration of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves rests along with the epic colossal Hindu Kailash temple, carved from a spectacular volcanic crest of the Deccan plateau. The unique assortment of three important religions here depicts the characteristic spirit of tolerance in ancient India. Here, the amazing sculptural wealth belonging to the ancient era is put to display. Post sightseeing session, return to the train for lunch and rest of the day is at leisure inside the plush setting and numerous options of the Indian Maharaja. Day 3. Friday Aurangabad – Ajanta Caves
Begin another morning with an enriching dose of heritage at the Ajanta Cave complex. This is the ancient cave complex is bestowed with extraordinarily splendid murals and paintings of 2nd century chiseled with perfection upon the basalt cliffs. All of them are dedicated to Lord Buddha and other Bodhisattvas. These caves served as the ancient chaitya grihas and monastic cells for monks as the rainy shelters. Day 4. Saturday – Udaipur
As you dream of how graciously the royals lived and enjoyed the life with opulence in the plush coupe of the Indian Maharaja; you are transported to the most romantic city of India, Udaipur. Here, ornate Rajput palaces float in the middle of lakes and present the most surreal picture of the Rajput India. After breakfast, step on to the ultimate royal city of Udaipur. Visit the iconic City Palace belonging to the flamboyant Rajput era. This will be followed by a mesmerizing boat ride on the luscious Lake Pichola (subject to water levels). Also, visit the Crystal Gallery where an exquisite private crystal selection of Maharana Sajjan Singh is displayed. Return to Train for Lunch on board. In the evening, alight the Indian Maharaja for a Gala Dinner at Palace Hotel. In night, transfer to the Sawai Madhopur for the next attraction of the tour, the game drive in the land of tigers, Ranthambore.
Day 5. Sunday Sawai Madhopur - Ranthambore National Park
After early breakfast, begin the jungle safari into the national park famous as a tiger reserve. Lunch on board, followed by afternoon safari. High-Tea session at The Taj Lodge; the former hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Jaipur. Dinner on board as the Train leaves for Jaipur.

Day 6. Monday Jaipur
Await the moment of ultimate royalty as you prepare yourself to enter the capital royale, Jaipur. Draped in pink hues of sandstone and rich chivalry and romance of classic Rajput legends, this city is known for its impressive citadels and intricate carvings. In the morning, alight the luxury train for a morning excursion to the hilltop fort Amber Fort atop the royal festooned elephants. Visit the Hawa Mahal, the palace of the winds, akin to the bee's honeycomb. Followed by this is the visit to the Royal Observatory of Jantar Mantar. Enjoy the colourful meal at Taj Jai Mahal Palace hotel. After the lunch, rest inside the train and refresh yourselves for the Dinner inside the train as the train proceeds for Agra.
Day 7. Tuesday Agra
The last glimpse of the Indian Maharajas belongs to Agra, the majestic Mughal capital known for its repertoire of monuments including the Taj Mahal. On the route to Agra, visit Fatehpur Sikri, another marvellous Mughal city, still in excellent state of preservation. Lunch at the city hotel. In the noon, reach Agra, and visit the Red Fort here and ultimately pay a visit to the Taj Mahal. Leave for Delhi in the night. Dinner on board.
Day 8. Wednesday Delhi
After Breakfast, check-out in the morning and de-board the Indian Maharaja at Safdarjung Railway Station in Delhi.
This is a reverse journey from Delhi to Mumbai, scheduled to accommodate new passengers boarding the Indian Maharaja – The Deccan Odyssey.
Day 1. Wednesday - Delhi – Depart the Indian Maharaja Luxury train
Following a traditional welcome at Delhi's Safdarjung Railway Station, board the Indian Maharaja Train and acquaint yourself with the exclusive suite which will be accompanying you for the seven forthcoming days in this one of a kind Pan-India journey. Dinner is served as we travel through the night to Agra.
Day 2. Thursday - Agra and Fatehpur Sikri
Wake up to the surreal morning in Agra on Day 2 and witness the foundations of the royal Mughal Empire here. Here, the icon of the Taj Mahal gazes the city in its splendour and offers visitors a glimpse of the lavish royal love, eternal in nature and appeal. Built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, this mausoleum monument is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a recognized World Heritage Site.
Besides the Taj, a scheduled visit to the Agra Fort which was the mighty epicenter of the Mughal Empire for the five generations in continuity, approx. 150 years. After the visit, we travel via coach towards the 16th century marvel, Fatehpur Sikri. This is a dream city etched in stone. A brainchild of Emperor Akbar, this is a city in red sandstone, immaculately preserved and later abandoned due to the scarcity of water. Within the periphery of the city, one can witness various monuments that picturize the wonderful architecture remains of the Mughal times. Return back on the Indian Maharaja train as you continue overnight journey to Jaipur.
Day 3. Friday - Jaipur
Start up your weekend with an amazing flavour of Rajput royalty in the city of royals, Jaipur. This city is amazingly bedecked with castles, forts, palaces and a richly hospitable Rajasthani culture. Here, you disembark the luxury train for an equally exclusive excursion to the the 16th century Amber Fort. Located atop a hill, this fort requires a royal way to reach here, which is via an ascending journey on the royal elephants or a Jeep Safari.
Then, enjoy a photo-stopover at the latticed Hawa Mahal, shaped as a traditional five storeyed crown. This is one of the most photographed attractions of the city. Following this is a visit to the royal observatory of Jantar Mantar, many of its architectural astronomical instruments are still in working condition. After lunch at the Jai Mahal Palace hotel, a Taj owned heritage property, we return to rest in the train and get ready for a Gala Dinner at the 18th century City Palace, painted pink in honour of the visiting British royal family. Board the train in the overnight as you are transported to Sawai Madhopur, the gateway to Ranthambore National Park.
Day 4. Saturday - Ranthambhore
Wake up to the roar of wildlife adventure in Ranthambore where early morning and post lunch jungle safaris await you inside this National Park and tiger reserve. After the final safari, there is high tea session at the Maharaja of Jaipur's former hunting reserve, before returning to the luxury train for dinner. Overnight transfer to Udaipur aboard the stylish luxury train.
Day 5. Sunday - Udaipur
Rise up in the most exotic and indisputably the most romantic city of India, Udaipur. The surreal city approaches you as you complete your breakfast. Udaipur, the luxury capital of Rajasthan opens up its heritage chapters with a visit to the 16th century City Palace complex. Built in a flamboyant style, this palace is considered the largest in Rajasthan. Also, visit to the famous Crystal Gallery of Udaipur is scheduled, wherein the breathtaking private collection of Maharana Sajjan Singh is displayed. The highlight here is the exquisite jewel studded carpet. Further to this, we return for a boat trip on mesmerizing Lake Pichola, famous for the romantic Lake Palace Hotel. Return to the train for lunch and dinner, as the train leaves Rajasthan to travel overnight to Maharashtra, the pride of the Deccan.

Day 6. Monday - Ellora Caves
In the morning, open up your eyes in Maharashtra, the Deccan Plateau's most dynamic state. Following a leisurely morning, move ahead for an excursion to the Ellora Caves. These caves comprise 34 monasteries and temples sculpted out of hills between 8th and 12th century. This is a world heritage site, bringing the ancient side of Indian civilization to life. The monasteries devoted to Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism here illustrate the spirit of tolerance that was and still is a characteristic of India. Return to the train. Rest of the day is at leisure inside the train.
Day 7. Tuesday - Ajanta Caves
On the second last day, begin a morning excursion towards 2nd century Ajanta Caves, featuring 30 caves. Five of them are chaitya-grihas or prayer halls and the rest are monasteries. These caves were carved in the 2nd century and exhibit the tempera technique wall frescoes and murals dedicated to the Buddha, Bodhisattvas; scenes from Buddha's life and Jataka Tales. The mud plaster tempera technique is the reason why these illustrated caves are still intact and display the artistic and scientific feat of the painters. The afternoon is spent at leisure, enjoying the rest of the time on the train, which travels to Mumbai overnight.
Day 8. Wednesday - Mumbai
Arrival in Mumbai and disembark the Indian Maharaja for a befitting end of this wonderful pan-India luxury train experience.
