Day 1. Delhi
On arrival at Delhi Airport, meet India Luxury Train representative who will welcome and transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2. Delhi
On Day 2, leave for sightseeing tour, which includes Jama Masjid - the largest Asian mosque in India. Later proceed to Red Fort, Chandni Chowk and Raj Ghat - cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. Also, visit India Gate, a 42-meter stone archway built in the memory of the Indian Soldiers who died during World War II. Drive past the President's House & Parliament House. Later, visit Humayun's Tomb (a memorial of the Mughal King Humayun and an inspiration behind the tomb of Taj Mahal), Qutab Minar, Birla Mandir and Lotus Temple. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 3. Delhi - Haridwar - Rishikesh
Morning is free at leisure. Afternoon connect Train # 2017 Dehradun Shatabdi Express dep. 06:55 hr. Arrive Haridwar at 11:22 hr. Drive to Rishikesh (22 km). Afternoon visit, Tapovan on the other bank of the Ganges where pilgrims can visit the temple dedicated to Lakshmana. It is believed that Lakshmana carried out penances here. It is also believed that his brother Bharata meditated here, and there is a temple dedicated to Bharata here. Also, seen here are the Swargashram and the Geeta Bhavan temples. The Lakshmana Jhula, a 450 feet long suspension bridge was built in 1939. A newer bridge the Ram Jhula has been added recently.
Day 4. Rishikesh - Devprayag - Rudraprayag – Joshimath
Leave Rishikesh, early morning for Joshimath / Rudraprayag via Devprayag (243 km / 9 -10 hr drive). See those places famous for confluence of two great rivers and proceed to Joshimath via Chamoli and Pipalkoti. Arrive at Joshimath late afternoon. Visit Adi Guru Shankaracharya seat Narshimha temple or a visit to Auli (famous winter hill resort for skiing) by lift chair car on extra cost. Night stay at Joshimath/Rudraprayag.
Day 5. Joshimath – Badrinath
Leave Joshimath / Rudraprayag early in the morning for Badrinath (31 kms). Reach Badrinath at 11 am. Badrinath is one of the four worshipped and revered dhams of the country. It is one of the most important Dham of India dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Situated at an altitude of 3133 meter above sea level, Badrinath is guarded on either side by the two mountain ranges known as Nar & Narayan, with the towering Neelkanth Peak providing a splendid backdrop.
This revered spot was once carpeted with wild berries, which gave it the name Badri (Van) meaning forest of berries. Facing the temple at the back of Alaknanda River, a River Ganga tributary; there is a hot water spring known as TAPT KUND.
Day 6. Badrinath - Rudraprayag
Drive to Rudraprayag (160 km/6 hr drive). Overnight in Hotel.
Day 7. Rudraprayag - Haridwar
Drive to Haridwar (170 Km / 5 Hr drive). This is marked as the sacred spot where River Ganges enters the Indo-Gangetic Plains of North India for the first time. The most sacred reasons to visit Haridwar include a holy dip in River Ganges, which is believed to purify the soul. Other attractions to visit include Har Ki Pauri, Temples of Chandi Devi, Mansa Devi, Daksha Mahadev and Kavand Mela to name a few. Evening view the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti. Overnight in Hotel.
Day 8. Haridwar - Agra
Morning transfer to Railway Station to connect Train # 8478 Kalinga Express dep. 06:00 hr / arrive Agra at 16:05 hr. Afternoon free for leisure. Transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 9. Agra - Puri
In morning, leave for the city sightseeing tour including a visit to Taj Mahal, an extravagant marble monument of love built by Shahjahan in 1653 as a memorial for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal. Then, visit the Agra Fort - a red sandstone fort built by Akbar in 1565. Evening, transfer to Railway Station to connect Train # 8478 Kalinga Express for Puri dep. 16:15 hr. Overnight on board. (Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.)
Day 10. Puri
Full day and night on board.
Day 11. Visit Jagannath Puri
Arrive Puri at 07:00 hr. Morning visit Jagannath Temple, the second in the series of Char Dhams dedicated to Lord Jagannath. The renowned Jagannath temple built in the 15th century AD and crowned with Vishnu's wheel and flag dominate the landscape at Puri. The temple with its elaborate carvings and ornate mouldings are very fine examples of Orissa architecture. Overnight in Puri.
Day 12. Puri - Konark - Bhubaneshwar – Madurai
Morning visit the Jagannath Temple again. Later drive to Konark (56 km/ 1 ½ hr) and visit the famous Sun Temple. Evening transfer to Bhubaneshwar Railway Station to connect Train # 6355 Kanyakumari Express dep. 22:43 hr for Madurai. Overnight on board.
Day 13. Madurai
Full day and night on board.
Day 14. Madurai Sightseeing
Arrive Madurai at 06:20 hr. On arrival, transfer and check in hotel. Later begin the city sightseeing with a visit to illustrious Meenakshi Temple. This remarkable temple is known for its excellent gopurams and thousand pillared hall. Later, visit Thirumalai Nayak Palace, a refreshing blend of Indo Saracen architectural brilliance. Optional visit to Gandhi Museum in the city. Rest of the day is free at leisure. You can visit Madurai Gallery Cottage Expo Crafts or Handloom House to grab a share of handicrafts Madurai is known for. Overnight in Madurai.
Day 15. Madurai - Rameshwaram
After breakfast, check out Madurai and drive to Rameshwaram, 167 km & approx. 4 hr drive. Afternoon begin sightseeing in Rameshwaram. The island of Rameshwaram, located offshore in the Bay of Bengal is a home to the third revered Dham of India. This is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage according to Ramayana. This marks the exact spot where Lord Rama worshipped Lord Shiva to absolve himself of the sin of killing Ravana who was a great scholar and a devout follower. The temple at Rameshwaram is a part of a Char Dham pilgrimage and is also a sacred jyotirlinga dedicated to Lord Shiva. This great connection with two prime Hindu deities increases the reverence of the temple, making it one of the must visit shrines in the lifetime. The temple's longest corridor or mandapam among all Hindu temples in India is also a major reason why pilgrims visit this shrine. A holy dip into the sacred waters of the Agnitheertham, the beach where wave rise at a minimal height of 3 cm, is considered auspicious. According to mythologies, this beach was calmed by Rama, to wage a war against Ravana. Overnight in Hotel.
Day 16. Rameshwaram - Madurai - Chennai
Morning, visit the temple again. Afternoon, drive back to Madurai and board Train # 6704 Pearl City Express dep. 22:35 hr for Chennai. Overnight on board.
Day 17. Chennai
Arrive Chennai at 07:00 hr and check in the hotel. Post breakfast; begin the full day tour of Mahabalipuram & Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram is the ancient Pallava capital famous as a city of 1000 Temples of which 124 shrines still narrate the glory of Kanchi, one of the seven revered Hindu cities of pilgrimage. Temples of Ekambaswara, Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest during Kanchipuram City Tour. Day 18. Chennai - Ahmedabad
Morning begin Chennai city tour visiting the Museum and see the Art and Bronze Gallery. Drive through the Flower and Fruit market, High Court, Fort Museum, Marina Beach, Kapaleeswar Temple, Cathedral, and Snake Park. Afternoon connect flight 9W 325 dep. 14:30 hr/ arr. 17:55 hr for Ahmedabad. Transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 19. Ahmedabad - Dwarka
Morning connect Train # 9005 Saurashtra Mail dep. 05:40 hr and arr. Dwarka at 15:28 hr. Later visit the ancient sacred city and one of the four Dhams, Dwarika. Located on the edge of the Saurashtra peninsula, Dwarika was once the capital of Lord Krishna's empire which he had shifted from Mathura thousands of years ago. The main attraction in this beach city is the Dwarkadhish Temple. Overnight in hotel.
Day 20. Dwarka - Mumbai
Morning visit, Dwarkadhish Temple again. This kingdom of Krishna is associated with many legends. One of which states that the original Dwarika city got submerged into the ocean after Mahabharata war and the temple site is believed to be the original site of the kingdom. Afternoon transfer to Railway Station to board Train # 9006 Saurashtra Mail dep. 13:05 hr to Mumbai. Overnight on Board.
Day 21. Mumbai
Arrive Mumbai at 06:56 hr. Morning cruise across the harbour (9 km) to visit Elephanta Caves noted for huge rock cuts. Located offshore in the Arabian Sea, this cave complex is also recognized as a world heritage site. Afternoon begin Mumbai city tour. Main attractions to visit during this sightseeing tour are Kamla Nehru Park, Hanging Gardens situated on the slopes of Malabar Hill offering panorama of Marine drive, Chowpatti Beach, Prince of Wales Museum, Mani Bhawan, Dhobi Ghat, Gateway of India & drive through the Crawford Market, Marine Drive & Flora Fountain. Day 22. Mumbai / Onward destination
