Day 1. Delhi – Mumbai
After disembarking from the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels train, transfer to the Delhi Airport to board the flight for Mumbai. Upon arrival in Mumbai, transfer to the hotel. Afternoon proceed for Mumbai city tour. In the beginning, the tour covers up the major attractions of the city including a visit to Kamla Nehru Park, Hanging Gardens situated on the slopes of Malabar Hill (highlights include a panoramic view of Marine drive) Chowpatti Beach, Prince of Wales Museum, Mani Bhawan, Dhobi Ghat and Gateway of India. Later, drive through the Crawford Market, Marine Drive & Flora Fountain. Overnight stay.
Day 2. Mumbai – Cochin
Morning take off to Cochin. It is the natural harbour created by the famed underwater Malabar mud-banks whose quality ensures that the rougher the seas are outside the calmer the waters are within the Harbour. Vasco-de-Gama placed it on the world map with his famous spice route to India. In the afternoon, visit Jewish synagogue, Portuguese Churches, Mosques & Hindu temples, Mattancherry Palace etc. Watch the Chinese Fishing Nets. In the evening watch Kathakali dance performance. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3. Cochin – Alleppey – Houseboat
After breakfast, drive to Alleppey (70 km /2 hr). Upon arrival, board the houseboat from Alleppey. Staying in this moving palace is breathtakingly stimulating experience. While sailing down a maze of canals one sees different scenes from the villages, paddy fields, coconut palms, fisherman and local life. Lunch, evening tea snacks, dinner and breakfast will be provided in the boat. The cool breeze from the Lake make you sleep early in the night after anchoring in a fancy place. Dinner and overnight in the houseboat.
Day 4. Houseboat – Kumarakom
Arrive Kumarakom and drive to hotel. Later visit Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. This sanctuary is rich with a number of noteworthy species include the Dater or Snake Bird, Little Cormorant, Night Heroin, Golden-backed woodpecker, Crow Pheasant, White Breasted Water Hen and Tree Pie etc. Overnight stay.
Day 5. Kumarakom – Periyar
After breakfast drive to Periyar (approx 135 k / 3 hr drive). Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Later visit tea and spice plantations or do a soft trek with escort in the jungle. Overnight stay.
Day 6. Periyar
After breakfast, visit the major attractions of Thekkady. In the afternoon, take a Boat safari in Lake Periyar inside the Periyar National Park. Overnight stay.
Day 7. Periyar – Cochin / Out
After breakfast drive to Cochin which is around 185 km / 5 hr drive. On arrival, transfer the Airport to board the flight for onward destination.
